Renée Sanden is a sculptor based on Salt Spring Island in the Gulf islands of British Columbia.  The artist draws upon her own life with a focus on the identity and experiences of women, mothers and children. Renée’s artwork is feminist in that it attempts to revalue women as creative subjects, and to critique aspects of patriarchy. Her past work has revolved around the themes: The Invisible Ones (1995), myBody-mySelf, The Shell Collector’s Gift (1999), and Detritus.
